Evergreen Lake, July 1, 2012 (Sun)

I remember not getting out a lot, and telling myself that if I wasn’t careful the summer would be over and I’d be sorry…  I also remember that Independence Day was just a few days away, and the fireworks at Miller Park means that I wouldn’t be able to go there.  But as my energy rose, I also realized that I hadn’t been out to Evergreen at all this season.  So off we went, and the Gills didn’t disappoint.  There was only one burst of catching from 9:23 to 10:00 AM, but it was worth it!

Absolutely beautiful Bluegill!

“Nicolet Shores” Part 3 – May 31, 2012

After having a good few days of fishing, Mom and I (oh, I didn’t mention that Mom came up with me??? :) ) then we tracked across the state to visit relatives.  Saw aunts, uncles, cousins on both sides, and then Mom went to visit someone — and I can’t remember who!  But she dropped me off at Pine Lake, just outside town.

Only caught one tiny little fish there, but it was still fishing right outside my hometown.

It was a pretty day to be out at Pine Lake.

Even though the only fish I got was teeny-tiny.

There was still nature, though. Can you spot the camouflaged critter?

Nicolet Shores Part 2 – May 27, 2012

Our guided trip was on May 27th.  We love our guide!  He put us on fish so well that I mostly forgot that I had my camera… only a few photos available.

This is about as much fun as an angler can have!

Nicolet Shores Part 1 May 26, 2012

Another year, and with much thanks to Mark Nibbelin, another trip to Nicolet Shores up in Eagle River, Wisconsin.

This series is from days before the guide trip.    The nice thing about Nicolet Shores is that there are small rowboats and canoes available to take out on to Spectacle Lake.  Last year we didn’t catch a thing in Spectacle but small Bluegill.  Much better this year.  We couldn’t take the Bass we caught, but Chris and I were catching them from the rowboat and then releasing them.  (We alternated rowing, and even did some trolling by rowing which worked pretty well!)

It rained a lot this week, but we were able to get out… this particular series ended with us rowing like hell to get back before a thunderstorm rolled in.

Tipton Park (?), May 5, 2012 (Sat)

Not really sure, but I think this may be Tipton Park.  Tipton did get as weedy as this picture looks, anyway.  It was Saturday evening at 7:50 PM.  Chris got a good one out, anyway!

Every bit as impressive as it looks!

Heartland Community College, 4-22-12 (Sun)

A week later, and not much happening at Heartland, but a little bit.  I deleted a second photo in this series because it was a minute later.  Now that I think about it, I think I may have caught two back-to-back.  But anyway, here’s a photo of one caught at 11:47 AM.

Not much, but not skunked...
